Mystic Charm is a Dutch Death/Doom band from the early 90’s. They bring a haunting blend of dark and melancholic melodies and crushing heaviness. Known for their atmospheric and somber approach they drag you into a world of sorrow and decay. Brutal riffs are balanced with an almost ethereal, ghostly presence that will haunt you.

The band was formed in December 1989 by Herwig Schuiling on guitar, Mark van de Bovenkamp on drums, and Rini Lipman on vocals and keyboards. Their lineup also included Gerlach Timmer on bass and Gerard van Assen on drums. Each member brought a unique element to the band’s sound, creating a deeply melancholic and unrelentingly heavy experience. Their music explores themes of mortality and loss, delivered through haunting growls and slow, doom-laden riffs that resonate with fans of the genre’s darker side.

Mystic Charm Discography Highlights

Shadows of the Unknown (1994) – Their debut album became an underground classic, capturing the doom and sorrow of deathdoom with tracks like “Lost Empire” and “The Rapture”. Haunting vocals and heavy riffs make this a timeless release.
Endless Sorrow (1995) – This EP continued the darkness, slow and heavy riffs and eerie atmospheres. Songs like “Frozen Memories” dig deep into despair and cement their place in the doom scene.
Hell Did Freeze Over (Compilation, 2022) – Recorded at Vision Sound Engineering studio in Heino, The Netherlands. This compilation, released by us, includes re-recorded tracks from the Hell Did Freeze Over EP (tracks 1-5) and the full session recordings from the Lost Empire EP (tracks 6-10). A proof of Mystic Charm’s lasting impact, blending familiar darkness with a new and immersive sound.
