On April 22nd internationally, PERSONAL RECORDS is proud to present a new EP from SURVIVAL INSTINCT, Fatal Venin, on special transparent CD format.

SURVIVAL INSTINCT is an old-school thrash band from Quebec City whose prime directive was to fill the gap of old school thrash metal in the small Quebec scene. Formed by Martin (Outre-Tombe) and Alexis (Saccage, Atroce) in 2013 on the ashes of local thrash band No Pity and soon joined by Will and Louis, the band released their first demo in 2014. Recorded live in the rehearsal room, it featured seven songs of fast and aggressive speed/thrash, reminiscent of early Destruction, Slayer, and Kreator. Two years later, the band released their debut album, Hell’s Angels, re-released the following year under the title Hellocaust. The album featured nine songs and was a continuation of the style showcased on the demo but with better production.

In February 2018, SURVIVAL INSTINCT released a split cassette with three other old-school speed and thrash metal acts, Katacomb and Excuse from Finland, as well as fellow Quebecers Torturer. The material on this release served as basis for their sophomore album, I am The Night, a raw and relentless assault of thrash where the brutality and speed were cranked up a notch compared to previous releases. Self-produced and released in September of 2018, this album marked the end of the collaboration between SURVIVAL INSTINCT and drummer Alexis and guitarist Louis.

In 2021, with the addition of Joel (Trépas) and Gabrihell (Riotor, ex-Demona), SURVIVAL INSTINCT were back rehearsing and recorded Fatal Venin, a vicious 16-minute nuclear assault of thrash and death, showcasing a faster and catchier sound than ever before, inspired by both South and North American styles of death/thrash like Sarcofago, Sepultura, Dark Angel, Razor, and Slayer as well as obvious European thrash favorites like Sodom, Exumer, or Violent Force. The band is currently writing new material in the same vein, hoping to release more frequently in the future and resume playing live in 2022. In the meantime, thrill to the ultraviolent sound of the new school of old-school thrash!
